Not going to lie to you folks my artistic productivity has gone off the cliff.
I am in pursuit of some other priorities to try and make my life a little more stable. A little bit of sacrifice now for the greater good but honestly it feels pretty gross to not be doing art stuff. It’s probably the first time in my life that I’ve almost put a full stop on things for a while.
Despite swearing by ranger for quite a few years I am a recent convert to the very similar lf file manager. It just feels a little lighter, faster and simpler and lets me fly around my system super fast. Today I finally got image previews working and very nicely too. I can do away with Ranger and the no longer maintained ueberzug for terminal image previews.
The answer for me was that I needed to install chafa.
I was recently asked to record someones short performance at a gig on my phone. I obliged of course but I’ve got to admit dealing with video footage on phones is not all that fun to me. Mostly because of the huge file sizes. Then we’ve got to work out how we’re going to transfer it to a computer for some post processing and send it on. The piece of video in question was around 5 gigs in size.

I launched my YouTube channel a little while ago, starting initially with just some time-lapse videos of my digital process. I was trying to just get in the habit of recording, editing, adding some audio and posting online. My first attempt with some kind of vocal commentary was a bit let down by poor audio quality but I think I’ve been levelling them up a little each time.
The Amiga was an essential part of my art journey.
The art I saw as a kid on the first computer we had was a huge part in me wanting to become an artist. Those graphics, loading screens, the box art and the music was an incredible multimedia experience at the time. Cartoons and comics had a similar role in firing me up but I will always have a soft spot for the charms of the Amiga and the late 80’s and early 90’s.
